Following our recent assessment visit by Quality in Tourism, we are pleased to announce that Orchard Cottage has been awarded a 5 star grading. The cottage, which sleeps six people, has three bedrooms, all on the ground floor. The double bedroom has an en suite shower room and there is a house bathroom serving the two twin rooms. Upstairs it has a fully fitted kitchen and an open plan dining and sitting area with many contemporary features. The cottage benefits from underfloor heating to both levels. New Holiday Cottage at South Coombe
We are very pleased to announce that we are opening a fifth holiday cottage at South Coombe. Orchard Cottage is a converted cart-house standing in the middle of its own private gardens. It has three bedrooms – one double and two twins, two bathrooms (including one en-suite to the double bedroom) and a wonderful open plan living area at the first floor level. Orchard Cottage will be available from Christmas 2014 and throughout 2015. See the cottage page for more details and photographs. The first five people to book Orchard Cottage will receive a 20% discount on the normal price.
South Coombe – Wonderful Views and a Log Stockpile!
Over last winter we had a lot of work done on thinning out trees at South Coombe. As well as allowing for even better Devon views this has given us a huge stockpile of logs ready for our winter guests to burn in the wood-burners that are installed in three of our cottages. Christmas and New Year in particular are ideal times to visit and gather around the wood-burners.
New Arrival at South Coombe
At the end of May we welcomed the newest member to the family – a beautiful weimaraner puppy called Maddie.
Maddie is just 11 weeks old but, within two days of arriving, had her first inclusion in one of the cottage visitor’s books, having melted the hearts of the guests who were staying there. Poor Tilley (our 10 year old weimaraner) is putting up with constant attention from Maddie when all she really wants to do is go to sleep.
Maddie is learning fast from Tilley – good and bad habits – and the similarity between their behaviours is remarkable.
South Coombe Bed & Breakfast
Setting up our new Bed & breakfast family suite has enabled us to welcome guests into South Coombe’s farmhouse – a beautiful 17th century Devon longhouse with a thatched roof and cob walls. A Bed & Breakfast option that includes use of an indoor swimming pool, sauna and games room is a fabulous facility to be able to offer our guests.
South Coombe Country Cottages launches new website
We are pleased to announce the launch of our new website – www.southcoombe.co.uk – with details of all our holiday cottages, our bed & breakfast options and our extensive leisure facilities. Frequently our guests told us that the old website did not fully capture the beauty of South Coombe. One of our objectives when putting together the new site was to try to remedy this. We hope we have succeeded in some way.
